Starting out

A new website for a small business just getting started

Starting a business with no existing website, no old content to migrate and no established design to match is, in one way, the simplest kind of build: there is nothing to untangle from a previous site, just a clear brief about what the business does and who it serves. The studio builds against that brief from a blank page, custom to the business from the first draft.

It is also often the moment a fixed price matters most. A new business has a limited early budget and a lot of other costs competing for it, so a site priced clearly at £250 or £400, with no surprise extras, is easier to plan for than an open-ended agency quote.

What to send at enquiry with no existing site to point to

The business name, what it actually does, the area it serves, and anything you like the look of, another site, a colour, a feel. You do not need a fully written brief or professional photos ready to go: the enquiry form is built for exactly this stage, a business that is still taking shape.

Getting the basics right from day one

A new business benefits more than most from getting the SEO basics right from the very first version of the site, rather than bolting them on later: proper page titles, structured data, Search Console and Analytics set up from launch, so there is a track record building from day one instead of a gap to make up for.

A domain is part of the same conversation. If you do not have one yet, that is normal at this stage and gets sorted as part of the build rather than treated as a blocker to starting.

Questions

I have not registered a domain yet, can I still start
Yes. Tell us at enquiry that you do not have one and it is worked through as part of the conversation, not treated as something that has to be sorted before the build can begin.
I do not have photos or content ready, is that a problem
No. A five-minute brief through the enquiry form is enough to start the build. Photos and finer content details can be added or refined as part of the one round of changes once you see the preview.
How many pages does a new business actually need
Most new businesses with one clear offer are well served by the five-page tier: home, about, services, contact and one more page. A ten-page site suits a business launching with more than one distinct service already worth its own page.
